The four girls joked to each other to help everyone's nerves calm. Jess was particularly antsy because Pandora hadn't been bred for jumping, though had been doing wonderfully in training. It was some of the most informal training ever with Tony, but they got through it. Pandora respected the poles and jumps. Her fire came back from her racing days and now she was champing at the bit wanting to be let loose.

Pandora had been equipped with a figure 8 bridle to help keep a firmer control on the potentially over-zealous mare. Thankfully, once she was over the practice jump a few times without incident - unless you call nearly jumping twice the height "incident" - Pandora settled down. Everyone was warmed up and now the announcer was heard calling the course for the person before Jess.

Pan and Jess moved up to the gate awaiting their turn. It was only a minute or two wait then they were set cantering around the field. Some of Pandora's past racing fans had heard of her second career and made it out to DLS to watch their favourite racer.

Jess turned Pandora towards their first jump, a simple vertical. This was it, all or nothing.
